India is actively preparing for the flight of the first national spacecraft
India is actively preparing for the flight of the first national spacecraft - it will go into orbit by 2022 and will be timed to the 75th anniversary of the country's independence, the correspondent of tvbrics.com reports with reference to the OneIndia information portal.
Special food has already been developed for the crew. It is based on national products - rice cakes, egg rolls, vegetable pilaf and moong dal halva. All of them are vegetarian and prepared to meet the requirements of space medicine.
The laboratory in the city of Mysore presented not only space lunches, but also special equipment for heating them on board. Special containers for water and juices have also been created to help astronauts drink liquids in zero-gravity state.
Earlier, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has informed that this month four astronauts from India will begin training in Russia for their first Indian manned mission. It is possible that Russian colleagues will also introduce Indian astronauts to Russian space cuisine, such as buckwheat porridge and borsch (beet-root soup).
The spacecraft flight is tentatively scheduled by the end of 2021. The space mission has already received its name - Gaganyaan, from the Sanskrit of “gagana” – "the heavens" or "celestial craft".
It is expected that two preliminary launches of unmanned spacecraft will take place before sending the crew: Indian "humanoid robots",on which all systems developed for flight will be tested, will fly instead of people.
