India's foreign minister emphasises country's strong relations with UAE

Bilateral trade has grown significantly since the conclusion of the free trade agreement

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that there has been a significant shift in the perception of India in the Gulf over the last decade. Speaking at the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce – Corporate Summit 2024, Jaishankar emphasised on the changing dynamics of partnership with the UAE, "In the last 10 years, the perception about India has changed in the UAE. They signed a free trade agreement with us and today the trade with the UAE has reached about US$80 billion."

Jaishankar also emphasised India's growing economic position on the world stage, predicting that the country will soon become the third largest economy in the world. He expressed confidence in India's potential, saying:

"Today we are in the top 5 economies and very soon we will be the third-largest economy in the world. You all know whose guarantee this is. We have full confidence that in the next 25 years, we will make India a US$30 trillion economy"

Discussing cultural ties between India and the UAE, Jaishankar noted the approval for the construction of a temple in the country. This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

The signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and the United Arab Emirates in 2022 further strengthened the strong economic partnership between the two countries.
