India's retail inflation fell to a three-month low of 6.77% in October
Retail inflation, based on the consumer price index (CPI), fell to a three-month low of 6.77% in India in October this year. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, retail inflation has fallen mainly due to a reduction in food and beverage prices. Retail inflation for September was 7.41%.
Food inflation stood at 7.04% in October. During the reporting period, inflation in the fuel and electricity segment showed 9.93% against 10.39% in September.
The government has instructed the central bank to maintain retail inflation at 4% with a margin of 2%. This was reported on the official website of the Government of India.
