India sends official request to host the 2036 Olympics
The Indian Olympic Association has sent an official request to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), expressing the country's interest in hosting the Olympics and Paralympics in 2036.
The opportunity could bring significant benefits by promoting economic growth, social progress and the empowerment of young people in India. This reported by IANS, a partner of TV BRICS.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly expressed India's intention to host the 2036 Olympics and Paralympics.
Modi, during his interaction with sportspeople at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, said that India is preparing to organise the 2036 Olympics, citing the invaluable contribution of the athletes who took part in previous competitions.
Last year, at the 141st IOC session in Mumbai, the prime minister emphasised that 1.4 billion Indians are committed to hosting the Games in 2036.
