India to bid to host 2036 Olympics
India will submit its bid to host the 2036 Olympics, Youth and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said.
He said New Delhi would present the roadmap to the full members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during a session of the world sports body in the Indian city of Mumbai in September 2023.
Thakur told reporters that the government would support the Indian Olympic Association's bid to host the games.
The minister noted that the western Indian state of Gujarat already has world-class sports infrastructure and that the city of Ahmedabad could host the Games.
He added that there was no reason to turn down the 2036 Olympics as the country had worked hard to develop sports and was ready to host the summer event in a big way, as reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
