India wins 11 medals in two days at Asian Games

The women's cricket team brought the second gold for the country on the second day of the competition

India won two gold and four bronze medals on the second day of the Hangzhou Asian Games on Monday, taking the total number of medals to 11. The Indian women's cricket team won the second gold for the country after defeating Sri Lanka team by a margin of 19 points in the final match. Following the Indian trio of Rudraksh Patil, Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar and Divyansh Singh Panwar won gold in the 10 metre air rifle team event.

The Indian men's fours rowing team won bronze while Aishwarya Tomar also won bronze in the individual event in air rifle shooting from 10 metres. In the team event in 25 metres rapid fire pistol, the Indian team comprising Anish Bhanwala, Vijavir Sidhu and Adarsh Singh made it to the third step of the podium.

At the Asian Games, India's Roshibina Devi Naorem won on points difference against Kyrgyzstan's Aiman Karshygi in the quarterfinals of the women's 60kg wushu event. The win ensured her at least a bronze medal in Hangzhou.

India is also set to begin its campaign in gymnastics, 3x3 basketball, handball and judo. The country will continue to compete in swimming and wushu at the 2023 Asian Games, as reported by the official website of the Government of India.
