International Book Fair in Cuba to be attended by representatives of 54 countries
Cuba is hosting the 32nd International Book Fair (FILH), a festival that includes concerts, film screenings, exhibitions and meetings with writers and book publishers from 45 countries. The event is dedicated to the philosopher, researcher and winner of Cuba's National Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities, Isabel Monal, and Cuban writer and art professor Francisco Lopez Sacha.
The fair includes colloquia, conferences and seminars on various topics. The festival features booths of all participants of the book publishing process - writers, translators, illustrators, editors, designers, librarians.
Brazil was the guest of honour at this year's Havana Book Fair. The delegation was headed by the Minister of Culture Margaret Menezes. This is reported by the Chilean edition of Crónica Digital.
The fair presented 6 thousand Brazilian texts translated from Portuguese to Spanish. The president of the Cuban Book Institute, Juan Rodriguez, emphasised that 3 million paper books are available to the public at the fair, as well as many digital editions.
