International media tour 'A Date with China' evaluate the preparations for the FISU Games in Chengdu
The international media tour 'A Date with China' visited the venues of the 31st Summer World University Games in Chengdu, the host city, on Friday to learn about preparations for the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games, as reported by
China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.
The Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games will be held from 28 July to 8 August, making Chengdu the third mainland Chinese city to host the biennial event, after Beijing in 2001 and Shenzhen in 2011.
All 49 competition venues have already been built to international standards, and athletes will compete for 269 gold medals in 18 sports.
The FISU World University Games are international and national university sports competitions. They are organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
The World University Games will attract around 10,000 participants from more than 150 countries. The competition will last 12 days.
More than two months before the games, Chengdu built a number of sports facilities, trained professional organisers and planned various educational, cultural and sporting activities.
A "Date with China" is a window for foreigners to get to know and understand the real China, experiencing not only the beautiful scenery and food delicacies, but also developing a deep understanding of the local economy, history and businesses, gaining a complete understanding of each place.
