Fifth bilateral working group meeting in Moscow concludes with an agreement to deepen collaboration in digital governance and information technologies
Iran and Russia have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence, cyber security, and digital governance. The agreement was finalised in Moscow at the closing session of the fifth meeting of the joint working group on communications and information technology. This is reported by IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.
Senior officials from both sides endorsed the document, emphasising its role in expanding bilateral engagement in areas such as data transit, e-government systems and the exchange of technical expertise. The memorandum also highlights plans to support technological parks and broaden cooperation between private-sector actors in both countries.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Iran’s deputy minister responsible for technology and innovation stated that the two governments had reaffirmed their intention to advance collaboration at the institutional level. He noted that shared initiatives in AI-driven tools were among the priorities agreed upon.
Officials reported that direct meetings held between Iranian and Russian technology enterprises over the past two days helped identify new pathways for joint projects. Expectations were expressed that these exchanges could lead to improved digital services and products for both nations.
The Russian side welcomed the proposals outlined by Iran, describing the digital environment as increasingly dynamic and well positioned to benefit from joint solutions. According to the deputy minister, cooperation in the communications and IT sectors is progressing steadily, with government agencies and private organisations from both countries showing interest in expanding their partnerships.
