In a significant step towards regional cooperation, Iranian Minister of Agriculture Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh has announced the establishment of a joint working group between Iran and Saudi Arabia to address shared concerns in agriculture, natural resources, and environmental issues. This is reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 16th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Riyadh, Ghezeljeh highlighted the importance of strengthening ties with Saudi Arabia. He revealed that discussions with Saudi agricultural officials had laid the foundation for collaborative projects in these vital sectors.

The minister also detailed his interactions with representatives from several other countries, including Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. These meetings underscored the value of multilateral dialogues in addressing global challenges related to agriculture and environmental sustainability.

Ghezeljeh emphasised the practical benefits of such international engagements, noting their potential to foster shared learning and support the goals of relevant global organisations. This initiative signals a renewed focus on fostering sustainable solutions through regional partnerships, aligning with international efforts to combat desertification and enhance resource management.
