Iran enters UNWTO’s top 20 global tourism destinations
Future initiatives include launching an interactive travel guide
Iran has been ranked among the world’s top 20 tourism destinations in the first quarter of 2025, according to new data published by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). This is reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
The achievement has been described by Iranian officials as evidence of the country’s policy maturity, sectoral resilience, and growing appeal as a stable and diverse destination.
According to the official UNWTO analysis, Iran recorded one of the highest regional performances in international tourist arrivals during the past winter. Officials noted that this growth was not only a sign of Iran’s tourism potential but also of effective policymaking, improved infrastructure, and strategic efforts to reshape global perceptions of the country.
Planned initiatives include restructuring the website based on behavioural insights and visitor preferences, launching an interactive travel guide, leveraging local storytelling via social media, and establishing performance indicators. The ministry also plans to engage domestic talent and international experts in multimedia content creation and strategic branding.
