Iran’s Cement Exports Reach 10.5 Million Metric Tons in Nine Months
Iran successfully exported 10.5 million metric tonnes of cement during the first nine months of calendar year 1402, covering the period from 21 March to 21 December.
Iran's total cement production is about 90 million tonnes per year, with about 60 million tonnes of cement consumed domestically. Notably, cement production has increased by 12 per cent since the current government came to power in 2021. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
There are 13 half-completed projects underway in the country which, when completed, could increase white cement production by more than 8.8 million metric tonnes.
It should be noted that Iran's cement industry has strengthened its position in the global market over the years. In 2021, the country produced 63 million tonnes of cement, securing its seventh place among the world's largest cement producers. A year earlier, in 2020, Iran ranked fifth with 69 million tonnes.
With more than eighty years of history, Iran's cement industry continues to flourish. Currently, Iran has 96 active cement production lines spread across 74 plants.
