Iran's election outcome to result in run-off
Among the leaders are Masoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili
Official figures show that out of the more than 24 million votes counted so far, Masoud Pezeshkian has garnered about 10.4 million votes, while Saeed Jalili has about 9.4 million votes.
According to the Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS, the results of the first round of voting show the second round of the presidential election will be held on July 5, 2024.
Under the Iranian constitution, a candidate must receive more than 50 per cent of the vote in order to win in the first round. Otherwise, the two candidates who received the most votes in the first round will compete in a second round.
