Iran's historic city begins preparations for Nowruz holiday

Plans are underway to open one of Persepolis' historic underground waterways

Mohammad Sabet-Eghlidi, an Iranian official, spoke about the preparations for the Nowruz celebrations. He mentioned various initiatives aimed at revitalising this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The measures include repairing roads, replacing wooden staircases and improving the museum, among others.

Sabet-Eghlidi highlighted plans to open one of Persepolis' historic underground waterways. He pointed out the importance of this opening to attract tourists and give a new attraction to the place. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

The official also announced other restoration projects, including the reconstruction of Saadi tomb and the renovation of Naqareh Khane Square in Shiraz in cooperation with the municipality.

Sabet-Eglidi emphasised that these projects are part of the province's efforts to preserve its rich historical heritage. He called for philanthropic support to supplement the limited heritage resources.
