Iran's power plant capacity increases by 965 megawatts

By carrying out projects to increase the capacity of gas and combined-cycle power plants in Iran with the help of local knowledge-based companies, the capacity of power plants in the country increased by 965 megawatts last year.

Several new power plants have also been opened and plans have been made to increase the capacity of existing plants. More than 2,000 megawatts of power generation projects have been implemented across the country since the current administration took office. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

The nominal capacity of all power plants in Iran reached 92,055 megawatts, while the capacity of gas-fired plants increased by 3,1 per cent to 23,330 megawatts. The capacity of renewable energy power plants also increased to 1,120 megawatts.

Iran's Energy Ministry is actively working to increase generating capacity and prevent blackouts during peak consumption periods. The plan is to increase the country's capacity by 35,000 megawatts in four years by building new thermal and renewable power plants. The company is also constructing new hydroelectric power plants and conducting studies to build additional capacity.
