Johannesburg Film Festival takes place from 31 January to 5 February at various venues in the city
The Joburg Film Festival runs from 31 January to 5 February in Johannesburg. The cultural event showcases the best films from more than 35 countries, including 20 African and 27 South African premieres. The films will be screened at various venues in the city.
Film lovers will be able to immerse themselves in the world of films from Tunisia, Brazil, Morocco and other countries. The programme includes feature films and documentaries.
To highlight the contribution of the arts, culture and creative industries in strengthening the country's brand, Brand South Africa has teamed up with the Joburg Film Festival, which is an important platform for South African filmmakers and opens up new opportunities in the film industry.
"We believe it is important to strengthen the film and entertainment industry and highlight one of South Africa's key strengths as a creative hub on the continent by showcasing Africa's ability to create high-quality and authentic stories for the world," said Mpumi Mabuza, acting chief marketing Officer at Brand South Africa.
"In addition, the South African film industry contributes significantly to economic growth through job creation and retention, skills development and transfer, and increased income for workers and households. It is a sector that both promotes the country and contributes to its prosperity," she added.
The festival screenings will take place in cinemas across South Africa, as reported by Pretoria News, a partner of TV BRICS.
