Industrial production in Kazakhstan totalled US$57.1 billion between January and May 2026, marking a 2.5 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the Bureau of National Statistics. This was reported by Kazinform, a partner of TV BRICS.

The country’s industrial structure remained broadly balanced during the reporting period. The mining sector accounted for 46.1 per cent of total industrial output, while manufacturing represented 46.5 per cent. Manufacturing emerged as the principal contributor to growth, expanding by 9 per cent year-on-year.

Several manufacturing industries recorded significant gains. Production of fabricated metal products rose by 46.6 per cent, while the pharmaceutical sector expanded by 26.6 per cent. Output of rubber and plastic products increased by 24.9 per cent, machinery manufacturing grew by 22.2 per cent, and food production advanced by 14.3 per cent.

Positive dynamics were also observed in infrastructure-related sectors. Electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply, together with water supply services, recorded growth rates ranging from 9 to 12 per cent, contributing to the overall development of the industrial sector.

The latest figures reflect continued progress in the expansion of value-added production. Manufacturing growth has played an important role in supporting economic activity, alongside the development of high-value industries and modern production capacities.

Earlier, the Ministry of National Economy reported that Kazakhstan’s economy grew by 3.7 per cent during the first five months of 2026. Officials noted that industrial development remains one of the key contributors to the country’s broader economic expansion.
