Krasnoyarsk schoolchildren create a "smart socket"
Two Krasnoyarsk schoolchildren have developed a unique application for sockets which will help save electricity and make houses safer.
Alexey Penkov and Ivan Perov, who study in lyceum No. 6 “Perspective”, recently became laureates of the All-Russian competition which awards notable scientific and engineering projects.
They called their project "Smart Socket”. “Aesthetically, it is practically no different from a usual socket.
Only a smart box is attached to a smart socket, in which there is an Arduino board, a current sensor, a relay and a module responsible for data transfer. Another significant difference is the ability to "connect" the outlet to a mobile application, "- announced the Krasnoyarsk Department of Education.
As soon as a user connects a given device to the network, information about it is fed into
the mobile application. The program determines the power and even energy consumption
in terms of value - for example, on the current tariff, the price of a warmed water kettle is 3
kopecks, with one wash costing 7 kopecks.
A user can also turn off electrical appliances from the power supply remotely through the application.
