Lavrov to attend G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in New Delhi
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, confirmed Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's participation in the summit of the Group of Twenty (G20) on Monday, 30 January. The meeting will take place in the Indian capital New Delhi on 1-2 March, as reported by TASS.
The diplomat also added that the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin is still in question, the decision will depend on the schedule of the head of state.
We shall remind you that this year all the events in the framework of the G20 are being organized by India, the current president of the group. The South Asian country intends to hold more than 200 meetings in 55 different venues on its territory. As part of India's chairmanship of the association, a number of events have been held since 1 December last year. Among them are: the meeting of G20 finance ministers and Central Bank representatives, the G20 Sherpa meeting, the Infrastructure Working Group meeting, the founding meeting of Business 20 and other events.
Indian President Droupadi Murmu praises the country's G20 presidency. It is an opportunity to promote democracy, multilateralism and forge a better world and a better future, she said.
The key event will be the G20 summit, scheduled for 9-10 September in New Delhi.
