Lula da Silva approves the new General Law on Tourism

The aim is to create conditions to raise the profile of tourism in Brazil

Brazilian President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, approved the new General Tourism Law, which is a significant milestone for the sector in the country. The law aims to modernise processes and develop closer collaboration between public institutions and the private sector to boost tourism activity. This is reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

The text of the new law was the result of a long consultation between the federal government, parliament and the private sector, with the aim of creating the conditions to increase the importance of tourism in Brazil.

At the ceremony, various government and business representatives emphasised the economic potential of Brazilian tourism. Minister Silvio Costa Filho, who is in charge of ports and airports, said that the sector holds tremendous promise for job creation and economic transformation.
