Lula to gather South American presidents in Brasilia
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will lead a major meeting of South American leaders in Brasilia on Tuesday 30 May. All of the continent's leaders are expected to attend the meeting, with the exception of Peru's President Dina Boluarte.
The Brazilian government expects to discuss economic and political issues important to the resumption of the region's growth agenda. Bilateral meetings with any heads of state have not yet been confirmed.
According to government information, the event is two closed-door meetings with individual statements by participants. It will continue with an informal debate on the South American agenda. There will also be a dinner at the Alvorada Palace, the official residence of the Brazilian president, as reported by Rede TV!, a partner of TV BRICS.
