Malaysia is set to deepen its global economic engagement through a series of new partnerships, including the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with Brazil in the semiconductor sector and upcoming negotiations with India to boost technological and industrial collaboration. This is reported by BERNAMA, a partner of TV BRICS.

Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong said the initiatives align with the government’s strategy and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s goal of expanding trade relations with developing nations, particularly BRICS members and African countries.

Liew emphasised that such cooperation is key to ensuring Malaysia’s sustained growth and diversification in the face of shifting global trade dynamics.

The Deputy Minister added that Malaysia is also leveraging major trade pacts, including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, to attract new investors and enhance the country’s long-term competitiveness.

Officials noted that Malaysia is reinforcing regional supply chains, particularly in strategic industries such as semiconductors. Under ASEAN leadership, the government is working to develop a framework that strengthens semiconductor networks within and beyond Southeast Asia.
