Mikhail Mishustin: Positive dynamics remain in trade turnover between Russia and Cuba
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin held bilateral meetings with the heads of government of Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Cuba on the margins of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council's meeting. The Roscongress reports.
During the meeting with the Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko the head of the Russian government noted the growth of economic indicators: in 2022 the trade turnover grew by 12% and exceeded 3 trillion rubles and after four months of the current year the trade volume grew by 11% and exceeded 1 trillion rubles.
"The governments have set up systematic work to implement 28 Union programmes. Ten programmes have been fully implemented and five information systems have been put into operation. Almost 80 per cent of the 989 measures included in the programmes have been implemented, that is a very good result"![]()

At the meeting with Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov, Mikhail Mishustin told about the programme for construction of nine joint comprehensive schools with teaching in Russian language in Kyrgyzstan.
He underlined that the Russian-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission takes serious, comprehensive decisions necessary for further enhancement of the trade and economic cooperation. "There is very large potential for launching new joint projects, such as in digital economy, in transport, logistics, industry, agricultural cooperation, tax administration," the Chairman of the Russian Government said.
Positive dynamics is still observed in the trade turnover between Russia Cuba, Mikhail Mishustin stated. He said that from January to April 2023, trade volume increased nine times compared to the same period of 2022. Last year, the mutual trade turnover amounted to almost 60 billion rubles.
"It is very important for us to restart our cooperation to further increase trade and investment. Our intergovernmental commission for trade, economic and scientific cooperation is dealing with these tasks. It is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. During the regular meeting of the commission on May 18-19 in Havana, concrete agreements have been reached in finance, industry, energy, transport, cultural and humanitarian spheres", reminded the Prime Minister of Russia at the meeting with Prime Minister of Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz.
From June 7 to 9 the activities of the presidency of Russia in the EEU are held.
The programme of events of the Russian Chairmanship includes consideration of priority issues of interaction and integration within the EAEU through ministries and agencies, organisations, as well as meetings at the level of heads of state and government.
