Xi invites Russian Prime Minister to visit China
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday, 21 March. The Chinese leader is on a state visit to Moscow. The talks took place in the Russian Government House.
During the meeting, the politicians discussed a number of topical issues, among which was the development of investment cooperation between China and Russia. Mishustin noted that it is currently given priority. "The portfolio of the Intergovernmental "investment" commission includes 79 projects worth over $165 billion," said the Russian Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also stressed that Russia will continue to expand ties with China.
"We are sincerely interested in further strengthening the comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction with China. Our relations are at the highest level in our centuries-long history"![]()

Moreover, the Russian politician expressed confidence that Russia and China will increase trade turnover to $200 billion in 2023. He added that this is evidenced by the impressive results of the previous year. According to Mishustin, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries continues to develop successfully despite any external circumstances.
The Russian Prime Minister also highlighted the cooperation between China and Russia in high-tech areas.
"We are talking about aircraft building, machine building, machine tool construction, space research, as well as end-to-end technologies aimed at creating innovative products and providing services. I am convinced that expansion of innovation cooperation will strengthen the technological sovereignty of Russia and China," he said.
In his turn, the Chinese President invited the Russian Prime Minister to visit China in the near future to establish even closer ties. Xi also mentioned that he had offered a trip to China to Vladimir Putin the day before.
"I invited President Putin yesterday to visit China at a convenient time this year, as China will host the third international forum under the One Belt, One Road framework," said the Chinese leader.
Xi Jinping flew to Russia on Monday, 20 March. On the same day he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the conversation, the politicians reaffirmed their willingness to develop bilateral relations and strengthen interstate ties in various fields.
