Modi inaugurates India Energy Week 2023 in Bengaluru
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India Energy Week 2023 in Bengaluru on Monday.
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai were also present at the event. India Energy Week aims to showcase India's growing prowess as an energy transition powerhouse.
"As India's first comprehensive energy event covering the entire value chain in its G20 presidency year, India Energy Week 2023 is a key discussion platform in the G20 calendar. The event was born out of the Prime Minister's long-standing vision for India's role in the global energy transition, ensuring India's energy security, accessibility and affordability for our citizens," said Hardeep Singh Puri, India's Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, whose ministry organised the meeting.
The event, which runs from 6-8 February, aims to showcase India's growing prowess as a powerhouse in the energy transition, an official statement said.
According to Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the event will bring together leaders from the traditional and non-traditional energy industry, governments and academia to discuss the challenges and opportunities that a responsible energy transition presents. The event will be attended by over 30 ministers from around the world.
Over 30,000 delegates, 1,000 exhibitors and 500 speakers have gathered to discuss the challenges and opportunities of India's energy future.
Most of the participants at the event are from state-owned or private companies involved in fossil fuels, which has raised concerns among climate experts.
The Prime Minister also unveiled thetwin-cooktop model of Indian Oil's Indoor Solar Cooking System and signals its commercial deployment.
The twin-cooktop Indoor Solar Cooking system is designed to offer more flexibility and ease to users. It is a revolutionary indoor solar cooking solution that runs simultaneously on solar and auxiliary power sources, making it a reliable cooking solution for India.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will participate in a roundtable interaction with global oil and gas directors. He will also launch several initiatives in the field of green energy, as reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
