More than 1,800 nanotechnology products are produced and sold in Iran during the past calendar year

The country exports its nanoproducts to 50 countries around the world

The country's achievements in this cutting-edge technology date back to 1379 (2000-2001) and were fuelled by the establishment of a national headquarters for nanotechnology development three years later.

With the support of scientists and knowledge-intensive companies, Iran has become a key player in the global nanotechnology market with more than 1,600 certified nanotechnology products in fields such as construction, oil, gas, petrochemicals, automotive and optoelectronics.

The country has also expanded its export programmes by establishing bases in countries such as China, India, Indonesia and Iraq to promote Iranian nanotechnology goods and services to global markets.

During the past calendar year, Iran produced and sold more than 1,800 nanotechnology products in the domestic market, with a total value of more than US$600 million. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

With exports accounting for 6 per cent of the market value, the Iranian nanotechnology industry has been successful in various sectors including sanitary products, catalysts for the oil and gas industry, automotive catalysts, building materials and optoelectronics.

Industries such as construction, automotive, transport, and oil, gas, and petrochemicals have played a significant role in the growth of the Iranian nanotechnology market.
