Myanmar interested in joining BRICS

Myanmar's Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Kan Zaw announced that the country may become part of BRICS.

"We are interested in joining BRICS. Through BRICS, through our cooperation, we intend to achieve new sources of financing for technology," he said at a session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

The Minister stressed that in today's world, not only regional cooperation is important, but also global cooperation, as it leads to widespread economic growth.

Kan Zaw also expressed the opinion that the BRICS, SCO, and ASEAN associations will play a very important role in the future.

The day before, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone also announced his country's interest in joining BRICS. He emphasised the importance of the association for the entire region and noted the group's successes in economic development.
