Narendra Modi celebrates his birthday
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrates his birthday on 17 September. The head of the government received an unusual gift from a schoolgirl from the city of Chennai. This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
13-year-old Presley Shekinah unveiled the World's Largest Millet Painting, a tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It took her 12 hours and 800 kilograms of groats to make the painting of over 55 square metres.
The future head of the government was born in 1950 in the city of Vadnagar in the family of a tea merchant.
Narendra Modi studied political science at Delhi University. In 1978, he received a bachelor's degree. In 1983, he completed his Master's degree from Gujarat University in the same speciality.
In 1985, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and served as the party's general secretary from 1998 to 2001.
Modi headed the Gujarat state government from 2001 to 2014. During his tenure, the state's economy actively attracted foreign investment, developed infrastructure, electrified most of its population centres, and expanded the region's international ties.
In 2014, Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India. His cabinet has implemented several national programmes such as the Made in India initiative and Digital India. This year, Modi assumed office as the head of government for the third time.
Apart from his political career, the Prime Minister has been engaged in journalistic and literary activities. In particular, he has published a number of works on socio-political and religious themes.
