Narendra Modi: Gujarat becomes the major centre of medicine

Indian Prime Minister admitted the state's progress in the field of healthcare

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Gujarat had made significant progress in the health sector in the last 20 years and, thus, had become the major centre of medicine.

The politician added that the city could be the example for other states. This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

"Gujarat has made unprecedented progress in the healthcare space in the last 20 years. Today, Gujarat has become the medical hub in the country. Till 2002 there were only 11 medical colleges in Gujarat. Today they are already 40. In 20 years, the number of MBBS seats has increased five times while the number of PG seats has gone up three times," the Prime Minister said.

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Khodaldham Trust Cancer Hospital in Gujarat, he said that 30 new cancer hospitals had been opened in the state in the last nine years.
