Nigeria and UAE launch three joint tourism projects

Agreement aims to diversify Nigeria’s economy and create new employment opportunities

Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to implement three joint projects in the tourism sector, according to Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa. Speaking exclusively to Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS, the minister confirmed that the initiative marks a new phase of cooperation between the two countries.

The projects include the development of the “Coco Beach” resort in Lagos, the construction of a cultural centre in Abuja, and the establishment of a flagship hotel. Musawa revealed that work is already under way, with 12 per cent of the resort construction completed. The location of the new hotel is expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.

According to the minister, these ventures will help attract further investment from the UAE while opening new avenues for collaboration in culture and the creative economy. Both sides have emphasised that the partnership will be built on a mutually beneficial basis.

Musawa also highlighted that expanding the tourism industry is a key priority for Nigeria as the country works to diversify its economy and reduce reliance on oil revenues. Efforts are ongoing to improve tourism infrastructure, including enhancing transport networks and safety standards.
