Perseids meteor shower to take place in Kerman, Iran

It will be most visible on 11 and 12 August

In the middle of August, the famous Perseids meteor shower will light up the sky will pass in Shahdad region.

According to the country's cultural department, a special tour will be organised in this regard. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

Kerman province’s cultural heritage department official Mo'in Afzali said the region is an ideal place to observe Perseid.

The Shahdad desert is famous for its minimal cloud cover, which provides an almost uninterrupted view of the sky.

The Perseid meteor shower, known in Persian as Shahabi-e Barasavashi, is an annual astronomical event associated with the Swift-Tuttle comet.

It is usually visible from mid-July to the end of August and reaches its peak around 12 August. This year, the best observing conditions are expected on 11 and 12 August, promising a cosmic scale spectacle against the starry desert skies.
