Presidents of Russia and Egypt hold telephone conversation
Vladimir Putin and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirm their intention to strengthen bilateral cooperation
A telephone conversation took place between the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, according to the Kremlin website.
The leaders of the two countries exchanged views on current issues of bilateral relations, including discussing the implementation of large-scale investment projects in energy and industry. The positive dynamics of Russian–Egyptian cooperation were noted.
As stated by the spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency Mohamed El-Shenawy, the heads of state discussed strategic partnership projects. In particular, this included the construction, with Russian support, of the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, as well as the establishment of a Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Sada el-Balad, a partner of TV BRICS, reports.
In addition, cooperation in the fields of tourism, the food industry, and trade was discussed. El-Sisi emphasised Egypt’s intention to develop relations with Russia in the interests of both countries. Putin, in turn, expressed appreciation for the position of the Egyptian side and confirmed interest in implementing the planned initiatives.
