Representatives of Russian and Brazilian expert communities discuss prospects of joint work

Analytical activities may become one of the areas of cooperation between the BRICS countries

A delegation from the "Diplomacy of Knowledge" of Consulting Centre for Non-Profit and Non-Governmental Organisation of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH), a partner of TV BRICS, visited Rio de Janeiro to meet with representatives of the Brazilian expert community.

Aleksander Dashichev, Head of Research and Expert Analysis at "Diplomacy of Knowledge", and Marine Voskanyan, Director of the Smart Civilisation Institute, discussed with Marta Fernandez, Director of the BRICS Policy Centre of Brazil, the prospects of cooperation between analytical institutions of the BRICS countries. The parties stressed the uniqueness of cultures, interests and values of all BRICS participants, whose relations are built on the principle of equality.

Representatives of the BRICS Policy Centre noted the importance of deepening ties between the expert communities of the BRICS countries and providing free access to information on joint projects within the group.

The participants of the meeting also proposed the development of an index system that could improve the efficiency of interaction between BRICS researchers and academic institutions.

According to the experts, an equally important topic of the meeting was the analysis of the image of the group's in countries that are not members of the association but wish to join it. It is assumed that research into the motivations and policies of these states will help optimise the BRICS' work outside the group.

In addition, Kirill Kostin, Head of the Centre for Knowledge Diplomacy, met with Ricardo Harduim, Director of Projects and Institutional Relations at "PRIMA – Atlantic Forest and Sustainable Development".

The representative of the Brazilian organisation spoke about the environmental agenda and projects being implemented in the Latin American country. He also invited Russian colleagues to take part in the BRICS International Seminar "Dialogue without Borders" to be held in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Marica, Niteroi from 20 to 22 March 2025. It is planned to discuss political, social and economic issues of relevance to the BRICS countries on the margins of the event. Representatives of business, academic and expert communities from more than 20 countries are expected to attend.
