Rio's production rate increases by 6.1% in the first quarter of 2023
Industrial production in the state of Rio de Janeiro continues to grow. This is shown in the monthly regional industrial survey (PIM Regional) published by IBGE. According to the survey, Rio de Janeiro's industrial performance increased by 6.1 per cent in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. There was also an increase of 0.7 per cent from February to March.
"The IBGE study showed that Rio de Janeiro's industrial production levels have surpassed the pre-pandemic level if we consider February 2020. This indicates not only a recovery of the sector in the state of Rio, but also signals a positive trend of impact on economic growth and means more jobs and income for the population," said Governor Claudio Castro.
According to IBGE, oil activity contributed to the sector's good performance in Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of the year, thanks to an increase in production in the oil and gas chain.
"This result is a consequence of the actions that the state government has taken to improve the business environment and create conditions for companies to expand and locate in Rio de Janeiro," explained Vinicius Farah, secretary for economic development, industry, trade and services, as reported by Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.
