Russia becomes largest exporter of phosphate fertilizers to India
Russia has become the largest supplier of phosphate fertilizers to India in the last three months. From April to June, India imported 350 thousand tonnes of Diammonium Phosphate from Russian companies, as reported by The Indian Express.
The trade is done in local currencies, it said. Russia supplies nitrogen-phosphate fertilizers at a discounted price.
For instance, PhosAgro, one of the world's top producers of phosphate mineral fertilizers, sells its product to Indian companies at a considerable discount. The cost of Russian fertilizers for India is $920-925 per tonne, which is lower than the price of fertilizers from China, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Jordan. For example, Bangladesh previously offered at USD 1,020-1030 per tonne.
