Russia notes significant growth in butter supplies from Argentina and Uruguay

Iran has also started exporting this product to the country

The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) has recorded a sharp increase in butter imports to Russia from a number of foreign countries. According to the service's website, in the first months of 2025, supplies from Argentina increased 5.6 times compared to the same period last year, reaching 2,000 tonnes. Imports from Uruguay doubled to 1 thousand tonnes.

The report also notes that in the segment of dairy products 100 per cent of ice cream imported to Russia comes from Belarus (2.1 thousand tonnes since the beginning of 2025) and Kazakhstan (1.4 thousand tonnes). Cottage cheese is imported exclusively from Belarus, and its supplies have reached 16.6 thousand tonnes.

Onion and garlic supplies to Russia have also grown significantly: in the first months of this year, their imports increased 2.1 times, reaching 77.8 thousand tonnes. The leaders in tomato imports were Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, which supplied 30 thousand tonnes and 28.7 thousand tonnes respectively. A total of 124.9 thousand tonnes of tomatoes have been imported into Russia since the beginning of the year.
