Russia plans to double number of foreign tourists in next six years
The regions' tourism potential will be promoted through culture, creative industries and gastronomy
The Ministry of Economic Development will promote tourism in Russian regions under the Discover Russia brand, it is already being tested on the foreign market, said Nikita Kondratyev, director of the department of multilateral economic cooperation and special projects of the agency.
"In the first year, we will focus on the countries that can give the greatest effect on the economy - these are China, India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Oman," Kondratyev said at the international tourism exhibition Mitt. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Subsequently, there are plans to promote the brand in other Gulf, CIS and Southeast Asian countries, he added.
According to Kondratyev, the regions' tourism potential will be promoted through the cultural component, creative industries and gastronomy.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, Nikita Kondratyev, director of the ministry's Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects, said that the development and promotion of inbound tourism is one of the most important priorities for Russia. The country plans to double the number of foreign tourists over the next six years from 8m to 16m.
