Russia Tests a Vaccine Against Coronavirus in the Form of Yogurt

Russian scientists have developed a vaccine against coronavirus in the form of yogurt. It was announced by the Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Chekhonin, reports.

The medicine against COVID-19 is being developed at the site of the Institute of Experimental Medicine in St. Petersburg. By method of gene engineering, specialists built a key molecule in fibers on the surface of probiotic microbes. This molecule helps SARS-CoV-2 penetrate into cages. As a result, the vaccine can be introduced into an organism in the form of fermented milk product, for example, yogurt.

Today, preclinical tests of this medicine are carried out. Their details are not disclosed.

In Russia, according to the Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, 47 vaccines against coronavirus are being elaborated on 14 platforms. Among them there is a medicine which can be put in a nose in the form of drops.
