Russian-Chinese Winter Youth Games start in Changchun
The tournament is an important event in the Year of Sports Exchange between China and Russia
The III Russian-Chinese Winter Youth Games 2022 will be held from 14 to 20 December in Changchun, Jilin Province.
Since 2006, China and Russia have hosted eight such summer tournaments. In 2016, the countries agreed to host the Winter Youth Games. Through these competitions, young people from the two countries exchanged skills and knowledge and strengthened friendships.
During the Beijing Winter Olympics in February, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin jointly announced the launch of the Year of Russo-Chinese Cooperation in Physical Culture and Sports. This tournament is an important event this year.
There will be 45 competitions in 8 major winter sports such as short track, figure skating, curling, speed skating, cross country skiing, alpine skiing, snowboarding and freestyle skiing.
Short track and figure skating competitions will be held at the Wuhuan Sports Complex in Changchun; speed skating and curling competitions will be held at the Jilin Provincial Speed Skating Palace; Cross-country skiing will be held in Jingyuetan National Forest Park; skiing, snowboarding and freestyle competitions will be held at Lianhuisan Ski Park in Changchun.
The tournament will raise the level of sports training of young people in Russia and China and promote cultural cooperation and interaction between the two sides.
Changchun is now fully prepared to receive youth sports delegations from China and Russia, as reported by "China Rainbow Net", a partner of TV BRICS.
