Russian company announces new system for drone control in cities
Russian company "Azimut", part of the "Rostec" group, has announced the approval of tests of the "Jupiter" complex, a system designed to organise and control the movement of drones in urban environments. The technology will expand the use of unmanned devices in cities.
"The solutions we have developed are the first step towards integrating drones into Russian airspace. The potential for application is vast. We will continue to test the system and modify it in accordance with the requirements of potential operators,” said Viktor Solomentsev, company's deputy general director.
The Jupiter complex was tested at the Skolkovo Innovation Centre with the support of the Moscow mayor's office. The system proved to be safe when operating drones based on the 5G telephone network. This is reported by ASAS, a partner of the TV BRICS network.
"The use of drones will help solve urban problems. This is an extremely relevant step for the development of such areas as delivery, air taxi and monitoring," said Alexey Belyakov, the Skolkovo Foundation vice president.
The solution was based on the "Galaktika" air traffic control system, also owned by "Azimut". This product has already been certified and is used by dozens of control centers in Russia and other countries.
