Russian gas supplies to the European Union to grow despite the price
The European Union will continue to increase purchases of Russian gas in the foreseeable future, regardless of price situation, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said, reports a tvbrics.com correspondent with the reference to TASS.
«As for gas prices, the European Union will buy more and more gas in the foreseeable future,at any price», he told.
According to the Permanent Representative, the cost of the Russian gas for the European Union «is tied to oil prices, but with a temporary log of 9 months» within the so-called principle of cost substitution.
The Russian Permanent Representative noted that in the long term, the EU intends to ban hydrocarbon fuel, including natural gas, which is reflected in the so-called European Green Dealmade in 2020 by the European Commission.
Earlier, the head of the largest Russian private gas provider Novatek Leonid Mikhelson reported that coronavirus influence on gas price reduction will have short-term character which will run its course in several months.
