Saudi Arabia breaks record in inbound tourist spending last year

The country received US$36 billion from tourists

Saudi Arabia recorded a historic record spending by inbound tourists in 2023, which brought the country 135 billion Saudi riyals or US$36 billion.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, spending by inbound tourists increased by 42,8 per cent compared to the previous year. Also, spending by outbound travellers from Saudi Arabia increased to US$23,2 in 2023 compared to US$15,9 billion in 2022. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The tourism balance sheet in 2023 showed a surplus of about 48 billion Saudi riyals, which is higher than the level of 34.9 billion Saudi riyals recorded in 2022.

Moreover, the Kingdom garnered international acclaim from the World Tourism Organisation (UN Tourism) and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) for hosting over 100 million domestic and international tourists in 2023. Both organisations commended the tremendous efforts of the Kingdom’s tourism sector.
