Saudi Arabia launches agricultural projects to grow fruit, coffee, and flowers

The project aims to increase the region's self-sufficiency level

The Saudi Ministry of Environment announced the launch of several new projects in the Al-Baha region, which will include the cultivation of fruit, coffee, flowers, and wild trees. This is reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Prominent among the projects is the large-scale Coffee City project, covering an area of 2.29 million square metres, where more than 150,000 coffee trees are expected to be planted to produce more than 15,000 metric tonnes of coffee per year.

Another project, Al-Janabeen Dam, with an area of 4.6 million square metres, will specialise in growing palm trees, fruit trees, and other fruit crops.

Special attention is being paid to the Lavender Fields project, where more than 2,500 lavender seedlings will be planted annually and infrastructure for their cultivation will be created on an area of 11,710 square metres.

These projects represent part of Saudi Arabia's strategy to achieve the goals of Vision 2030, aimed at diversifying the economy and increasing the country's self-sufficiency in agricultural products.
