Saudi Arabia launches innovative programme to advance national human rights expertise

The programme integrates public policy, leadership, and communication training to drive inclusivity and social equity

Saudi Arabia has unveiled the Expert in Human Rights Programme, a pioneering initiative aimed at developing national expertise in human rights and aligning with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals, as reported by Arab News.

Announced by the Human Rights Commission and the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the programme was inaugurated in Riyadh, setting a new standard for human rights education in the region.

This comprehensive 250-hour curriculum blends theoretical knowledge and practical application, equipping participants with the skills needed to promote justice, equality, and sustainable development. Graduates will earn internationally recognised certifications, enabling them to take leadership roles in fostering human rights both nationally and globally.

Nikhil Seth, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNITAR, underscored the programme's significance in translating human rights principles into actionable frameworks.

The programme integrates public policy, leadership, and communication training to drive inclusivity and social equity.

This initiative not only strengthens Saudi Arabia’s commitment to human rights but also sets a benchmark for similar programmes across the Gulf and beyond, the source claimed.
