Saudi Arabia plans to turn 3 million metric tonnes of waste into fuel annually

The Kingdom is implementing the National Environmental Strategy

Through generating fuel from 3 million metric tonnes of recycled solid waste from municipalities annually, Saudi Arabia aims to cut its carbon footprint by approximately 1,791,300 metric tonnes. This is reported by Arab News.

The source claims that this will support the Kingdom's environmental sustainability objectives, which include lowering pollution and safeguarding natural resources, in the direction of a greener future.

In addition to disposing of waste-derived fuels, the project will enable transparent tracking and management of plastic trash from collection to recycling.

The plan aims to recycle up to 100 million metric tonnes of waste annually to promote sustainability efforts and will assist in creating more than 100,000 jobs in the sector for Saudi nationals.
