Saudi Arabia plants five million shrubs and trees

Using 5.8 million seedlings and 28 tonnes of dispersed seeds, the National Centre for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has started restoring 120 meadows and gardens throughout Saudi Arabia as part of a massive landscaping project. This is reported by Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The project's initial phase, which got underway in October 2023, is to rehabilitate 300 gardens and meadows across the Kingdom.

By 2030, this project hopes to have planted 12 million trees and bushes across 8 million hectares. Enhancing environmental sustainability and quality is the project's goal.

The project pays special attention to meadows and gardens, as they play an important role in carbon storage, mitigation of climate change, and reducing the impact of desertification and dust storms.
