Saudi Arabia region becomes vital centre for the Kingdom's food security
Jazan, a region in south-western Saudi Arabia, is known for its fertile agricultural potential, and in particular for its developed livestock production. The unique combination of plains, mountains, and seasonal rainfall makes the region ideal for raising sheep, goats, cattle, and camels. This is reported by Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Livestock farming is an important part of the local economy, providing meat and dairy products to the population. According to the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, the livestock population in Jazan exceeds 3.977 million, including more than 1.721 million sheep, 2.103 million goats, about 95,400 cattle, and approximately 57,400 camels.
The government is actively supporting the livestock industry in Jazan by providing financial and technical assistance to farmers, as well as veterinary services.
Thanks to its natural resources and government support, Jazan plays a key role in Saudi Arabia's food security, creating jobs and contributing to the growth of the local economy.
