Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi hold bilateral meeting on the margins of ASEAN events in Cambodia
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi met on the margins of ASEAN events: the East Asia Summit (EAS) and the ASEAN Regional Security Forum (ARF) on Friday, August 5, as reported by TASS.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of bilateral relations and pledged to further strengthen cooperation in various fields. The Russian and Chinese foreign ministers noted that the external conjuncture does not negatively affect the partnership relations between the two countries.
"The sides continue to steadily build up practical cooperation and foreign policy coordination in line with the agreements reached by the two heads of state," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The Russian and Chinese foreign ministers also discussed a number of topical issues on the regional and international agenda, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The desire for further expansion of cooperation in the BRICS and RIC (Russia-India-China) formats has been confirmed," the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
It is noted that the conversation took place in a friendly and trusting atmosphere.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the margins of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations events.
