BRICS is becoming a pole of attraction in the modern multipolar world

Lavrov made the speech on the margins of the 20th annual Valdai Club meeting

About 20 countries are interested in establishing partnership with the BRICS group, which is becoming increasingly popular in today's multipolar world, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, as reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

Lavrov made the statement on the sidelines of the 20th annual meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club, currently taking place in Sochi.

"The world is becoming multipolar, countries want to find reliable partners, and the expansion of BRICS can be seen as a direct confirmation of this," said Lavrov.

The minister also emphasised that six countries have joined the five BRICS members and almost 20 more countries would also like to establish special relations (with the association).

BRICS is seen as a reliable association and the members of the group are seen as reliable partners.

The theme of this year's Valdai Discussion Club meeting is "Fair multipolarity: how to ensure security and development for all." The event is taking place in Sochi from 2 to 5 October and is attended by 140 experts, politicians and diplomats from more than 40 countries.
