South Africa's Durban TV premieres the 'City of Stories' programme cycle
A series of TV BRICS programmes about small towns City of Stories was launched in February on Durban TV.
The aim of the project is to introduce to an international audience the unique culture of the Russian countryside, to show stories that will resonate in every person, regardless of their nationality, and to create a positive image of a provincial Russian town.
The City of Stories has 13 episodes, each of them lasts about 25 minutes.
"It is always surprising to see the wide variety of culture that Russia's holds. The City of Stories allows us as a Brics nation to see into the heart of Russia and meet its people, bringing us closer together as we experience each city, learn of its history and recognise our shared similarities through their stories. As Durban TV we look forward to sharing the series with our viewers to increase awareness around the up-coming Brics Summit to be held in South Africa in August 2023," said CEO of Durban TV, Doreen Theys.
"It is very important for the editorial team of TV BRICS Media Network to be able to share programmes about the culture, history of the five countries with South African viewers. City of Stories is a special project dedicated to small towns in Russia, which are often little known to foreign travellers, but deserve a special attention, as they have a special charm of a distinctive countryside. The project covers not only important stages in the history of a place but also focuses on its modern image and shows viewers its main value - its people"Janna Tolstikova CEO of TV BRICS Media Network
Today, the importance of sustainable development, openness, safety, resilience of small cities in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa is one of the focal points of the five-party agenda. Therefore, the launch of the City of Stories project on Durban TV is also an important media event in the context of the South African BRICS Presidency in 2023.
"The Durban TV platform offers high-quality, interesting content with a cultural and country-specific focus. And we are happy that the TV BRICS project about the modern Russian countryside will also be available to the Durban TV audience," she added.
